June 29th - August 21st at 37.5 hours/week (Days).
Must be between the age of 15-30 and eligible to work in Canada.
Salary depends on certifications and experience (Candidates with Water Safely and Lifeguard Certification preferred). $18.50/hour
Tasks & Training Requirements
Assist sprint canoe/kayaking skill in the youth sprint canoe kayak and adult a/Senior masters recreational-competitive program assisting the coach to allow smaller group sizes to facilitate development of skills suited to all ages participating
Serve as an active role model to youth and adult/senior masters paddlers
Encourage healthy eating, body positivity, good mental health and lifestyle choices
Uphold the policies of our club, eastern Ontario, provincial and federal sports bodies of canoe kayak Canada
Communicate with parents coach and official from other clubs in a positive professional manner
Provide a supportive diverse, equitable and inclusive safe sport team environment for athletes. Supervise participants ages 7 and up.
Drive a motorboat and provide on water recue when required
Work as a team with other instructors’ coaches and coordinator
Participate in health and safety, client service, equity and inclusion and safe sport training
Provide daily verbal and assist with weekly evaluation of paddlers
Maintain communication with other staff members verbally via two way radio and cell phone text
Facilitate crafts games sports and swimming activities
Lead paddling skills and paddling activities for participants. Teaching techniques in canoe, kayak and stand up board paddling.
Lead outdoor education trail hikes
Promote environmental protection through modeling the 3rs within the camp environment
Participate and complete online Canoe Kayak Canada training courses community coaching course and inclusion and safe sport training
Provide proof of CRC/VSC checks
Preference for candidates with water safety training, examples, lifeguard or bronze medallion
