Day Camp Counsellor (Lead with digital skills) (1 position)
May 4th - August 21st at 30 to 37.5 hours/week (Days) plus one or two days on up to 5 weekends overtime.
Must be between the age of 16-30 and eligible to work in Canada.
Salary depends on certifications and experience. $20/hour
Tasks & Training Requirements
Assist in pre season staff training in health and safety procedure; club policies, equity & inclusion and safe sport including participate and complete online canoe kayak Canada training courses.
Assisting to develop the leadership skills and knowledge needed to successfully implement the paddling programs in a safe and responsible manner.
Provide proof of CRC/CVS checks
Assist with administrative aspects for the competitive canoe kayak program including implementing senior and youth programming.
Include activities to promote environmental stewardship and enjoyment of out of door and paddling
Prepare digital newsletters and camp information emails and social media posts
Prepare daily social media posts and digital media to promote the club and activities.
Gather data from website visits and registration to help club understand demographics of participants and interest and further promote programs. Prepare participant surveys and analysis of submitted surveys. Suggest improvements and recommendations based on results.
Provide a supportive diverse, equitable and inclusive sage sport team environment for staff and participants
Ensure health and safety regulations and safe sport policies are followed
Verify equipment is in good repair and available for use
Work with counsellors and coordinator together to implement the daily program
Supervise daycamp participants ages 7 and up on land and on water activities.
Lead senior programming, providing driving of safety boat for support on outings.
Assist with communication with parents about their concerns, take concerns to SLCC director as required to resolve
Participate and complete online Canoe Kayak Canada training courses community coaching course and inclusion and safe sport training
Basic first aid training requirement for role
Drive a motor boat and hold a valid boaters license.
